The invitations can be a rather hefty expense, but it doesn't have to be when you make your very own baby shower invitations using your home computer and printer. But, in all actuality, a simple word processing program and card stock are all you really need to make the invitations, that and your own imagination, of course.
Some of the templates to print that you will find are basic, text only invitations, which is actually ideal as you'll then be able to add anything you like to truly personalize it for the new mom-to-be. There are literally thousands upon thousands of free images to fine online related to babies and baby showers, or simply use stickers and little embellishments to the front as you would while making a scrapbook page.
If you're good with a pair of scissors, or have a paper cutting machine for scrapbooking and paper crafts, cut the card stock out into shapes such as baby bottles, diapers, or bibs, or the ABCs or 123s, which are all ideal for either a baby girl or boy.
Whatever design or ideas you choose, just be sure to include the following pertinent information:
- The date and time of the shower
- Location and directions
- Name of mother-to-be and host(s), if any
- R.S.V.P. date and phone number
- If the guest of honor is registered anywhere
- Sex of the baby if known
- Any extra details guests should know such as specific gift instructions or a set theme to follow
