Baby Shower Decoration Ideas For a Happy, Memorable Party
However clean and nice looking you may keep your home, don’t you always get self conscious when company is due, and rush around making sure everything is cleaner than clean? For a special occasion, it is even worse; you want guests to walk in and think: “wow” when they see the decorations. The same surely goes for a baby shower; you want the baby shower decorations to impress as soon as people step inside…or even see your inviting décor outside in the garden and drive.
Mmmm, that sounds like pressure; self inflicted pressure. Relax a bit and look at the fresh but temporary decorations for the baby shower as a chance to have a bit of frivolous fun. First, do you know the baby’s gender. Then there’s an easy color theme: blue or pink; so you have a starting point. If you do not know the gender, then that’s fine too; think through some pastel shades you think the mom-to-be will like and pick on one for your base color
Then, well in advance, plan a trip to a party supply store. Would it not be nice to treat mom-to be for lunch before you go to the store? Just to remind you, before you choose the decorations, that it is her you are trying to make happy. Of course, don’t let her know where you are off to after lunch, and make sure she is well out of the way before you reach the party supply store. Once at the store, if it is a good one, you should have no shortage of decorating ideas before your eyes. Lots of colorful crepe paper, balloons, cardboard cut-outs should be plentiful. Streamers and balloons are always a good simple start. You can just spread balloons across the floor for a fun, festive appearance. Let’s face it, they will soon be coming down anyway.
Having a particular theme can make decorating easy… just follow suit with all the décor you buy. There are loads of baby decorations in stores and online. You buy banners, or make them if you are that way inclined, to hang both inside and outside. Hanging balloons from a mailbox, or tree branch near the entrance, is a good idea to make it easier for guests to find the baby shower venue.
Don’t' forget all the party accessories such as plates, napkins and cups, keeping them in theme if at all possible. Cake somehow tastes much better on sweet baby themed plates, rather than on your fine china or boring paper plates? You can add a bit more style with a special baby tablecloth, and a unique table centerpiece if you can find one.
The baby shower is, of course, mom’s special day. How about putting her on a throne? Use your biggest, most comfortable chair and decorate it how you like, such as with streamers, flowers and balloons. You could even ask the florist to make a crown for her, or make one yourself. Remember, you want the decorations to make guests feel happy and festive, but most of all, mom must be made to feel very special too.
